In 2008, I was hired as a performance designer for The Burial at Thebes Opera, directed by Nobel prize winner Derek Walcott, based on the libretto by Seamus Heaney, with score by Dominique le Gendre. I designed prop graphics and promotional flyer, co-designed set and costumes, and advised on other design aspects of the opera production. The opera was staged at three venues: Shakespeare’s Globe in London, Oxford Playhouse and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
Taking the bow on the stage of one of the most famous theatres in the world, which is a reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse first built in 1599 for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays, was definitely a great moment in my career!
