A Paean to Green

Date : Friday 23 May, 2014

It’s been a long time since my last blog post, for I have been enjoying a long overdue holiday in Poland. I didn’t realise how much I had missed home until I arrived in Kielce, my home town, which greeted me with its alleys of blossoming trees. After a few days I decided to extend my trip.

I’ve had a wonderful time recharging amidst family and friends in both Kielce and Warsaw, reading, writing, talking to people, and pondering over hundreds of things and ideas. But more than anything else, I have been marvelling at the beauty of spring, with its warmth, its gorgeous light and omnipresent greenness: a magnificent kaleidoscope of hues and shades of green.

As someone who mostly wears black, and perversely enjoys autumnal afternoons of sobbing rain and gloominess, I was surprised with just how much pleasure I was gaining from looking at the world in bloom. Walking around the park in Kielce, up and down the street where my Mum’s house is, and along the streets of Saska Kępa, my Warsaw home, I felt that I was shedding the hibernal layers I had been cocooned in for the past months.

Therefore, I am returning to my blog with a little a photographic paean to the colour that awoke the spring within me.
