In 2012 I got invited to take part to exhibit in the first edition of Sophiscapes festival (now known as Synestezje) which combines music and visual art in Kraków, Poland. I was presenting the artwork (including both final images used for animation as well as sketches) and the video for Iudicium, the fruit of collaboration with Colin Z. Robertson aka Hands of Ruin.

Creating artwork and animation for Iudicium, a track by Hands of Ruin, Colin Z. Robertson’s one-man project, was a visual response to martial industrial music, whose abstract form makes it impossible to give a straightforward interpretation. It is also a meeting of two artists fascinated by the kind of art which, on one hand, touches the dark side of life in a disturbing way, and on the other – enchants its recipient with the beauty of form. For me Iudicium is a dramatic portrait of a human as a mortal creature, defenceless against the law of nature. His birth, life and departure is watched by a group of witnesses, insensitive to the repetitive process. The hands are a symbol of an anonymous force which gives life and takes it away, lifts us up to the sky and pushes us into the abyss of annihilation.
